When it’s over, it’s over

Leaders should always strive to do what is right. As with the Penn State situation, the coach and the former president had an opportunity to do the right thing many years ago. Now it is too late. No one can turn back the hands of time. A coach who was once revered as a hero has now gone to his grave knowing that when he had the opportunity to right a wrong he did not “follow-up”.  As leaders, we all have to make hard calls such as reporting a parent or colleague for suspected child abuse.  We all have to stand up, straighten our backs and do the right thing for the children. My interpretation of the new president’s comments is that when the law does not go far enough to protect others then our ethics and our sense of what is right should take us the rest of the way.
